Almost every roadside mechanical we see in the shop announced itself before the ride — quietly, to someone who wasn't listening. Five minutes with a routine catches most of them.
The squeeze and the spin
Thru-axles: hand-check both. Brakes: one firm pull each, then a spin for rub. Tires: thumb-press for pressure and a glance at the sealant date on the rim tape — dried sealant is the most common flat we fix that shouldn't exist.
The cockpit minute
Grab the drops and try to twist. Any movement is a stop-everything: carbon bars that slip have been over- or under-torqued, and both end the same way. A 4 Nm torque key lives by our door for exactly this.
The listen
Roll the bike and listen: chain dry? Rotor ting? Cable tick? Bikes are honest machines — they rarely fail without telling you first. The check costs five minutes; the walk home costs an afternoon. Torque figures for an integrated front end are on the Gladius GR Integrated Handlebar page.
