Carbon rims and hubs with the rim bed in view

Tubeless on carbon rims, without the swearing

Tubeless earns its reputation one botched garage install at a time. The process that works first-try has four steps people skip and none they usually do.

Tape is structural

Rim tape wants tension — stretched as it lays down, two full wraps, rolled with a tire lever afterward. Loose tape channels sealant into the rim bed, and every 'mystery pressure loss' we chase ends at wrinkled tape.

Soap the bead

Diluted dish soap on both beads is the difference between a tire that pops home at 40 psi and one that needs a compressor and a prayer. It costs nothing. Nobody does it.

Sealant math

Follow the volume chart, then add 10 ml — road rims run drier than gravel charts assume. Shake, inflate, spin, and check pressure again in an hour: the first ride seats what the pump couldn't. Sealant volumes for our entry rim are on the Marvel 36D II page.
