When the Drive SL sample arrived, the scale said 1,244 grams and we weighed it twice. Deep-section disc wheelsets at that weight usually come with asterisks; the interesting part of this launch is how few there are.
Where the grams went
The rim bed loses its excess in the places layup software found idle material, not in the hook or the spoke bed. Spoke count stays honest — 24 front and rear — and the rider limit is a usable 110 kg.
The ride brief
Fast enough for race day, calm enough for a windy training loop. The blunt 48 mm profile follows the same crosswind philosophy as the rest of the range: depth you stop noticing.
Pricing the badge
The SL costs a third more than the standard Drive. If your rides include a start line, the grams argue for themselves; if not, the standard rim is 90% of this wheelset for two-thirds of the money — and we'll tell you that on the shop floor too. Both are on the shelf: the Drive SL 48D CS and the standard Drive 50D II.
