Wind tunnel numbers are easy to publish and hard to trust. So when SEKA booked the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub with Aerocoach to validate the Spear, the protocol mattered more than the headline: same rider, same power, yaw sweeps from −15° to +15°, repeated until the error bars got boring.
The number that matters
Across the sweep, the Spear averaged 6 watts less drag than the previous generation at 45 km/h. Over a 40 km time trial, that's 15.27 seconds — roughly the gap between third and tenth at a national championship.
Where the watts came from
Half the saving traces to the head tube and fork crown junction, reworked after 280,000 CFD data sets. The rest is the integrated cockpit: cables disappear, and so does a measurable slice of frontal area.
What we didn't publish
Two configurations tested slower than the old frame. They're in the appendix of the internal report, and they shaped the final tube set as much as the winners did. Testing that only confirms is marketing; testing that eliminates is engineering. The frameset those sessions produced is the Spear RDC Frameset.
